Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has marked a significant milestone in the banking sector by becoming the first institution globally to deploy the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP). This innovative platform, co-designed with Visa, integrates cybersecurity and payment intelligence to bolster financial institutions' ability to identify and mitigate emerging risks, thereby preventing potential fraud. The implementation of VTIP enhances ADIB's existing fraud prevention framework by providing real-time visibility into threats specifically tailored for the financial sector, allowing for quicker identification and investigation of suspicious activities.

The VTIP leverages the same cybersecurity infrastructure that safeguards Visa's expansive global network, which successfully blocks around 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing attempts monthly across over 200 countries. This proactive approach is crucial as many fraudulent transactions stem from prior cyber incidents, including compromised credentials and data breaches. Salima Gutieva, Visa's Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, emphasized that the platform enhances support for financial institutions in the UAE, enabling them to strengthen resilience and protect customers against evolving risks.

Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, highlighted that the bank's early adoption of this technology aligns with its commitment to providing a secure banking experience. The rollout of VTIP is part of ADIB's broader strategy to invest in advanced technologies that safeguard customer assets and contribute to the UAE's vision for a secure digital economy. This initiative not only positions ADIB as a leader in banking innovation but also sets a precedent for the adoption of advanced cybersecurity measures in the region's financial landscape.
