Ebanx and Pagaleve have unveiled a new buy now, pay later (BNPL) solution in Brazil, utilizing the country's instant payment system, Pix. This innovative offering, named Pix 4x, enables consumers to make purchases in four biweekly installments, with the first payment processed at checkout. The solution aims to address the needs of Brazil's 60 million consumers who lack credit cards, as well as those with low credit limits, thereby democratizing access to installment purchasing options in a market traditionally dominated by credit card transactions.

The Pix 4x solution is underpinned by Pagaleve's advanced risk analysis engine, which employs machine learning and artificial intelligence to conduct rapid credit assessments based on over 100 data points in less than three seconds. This integration allows for a seamless experience for consumers while providing merchants with a reliable tool to assess credit risk. Ebanx's extensive network of over 500 merchants across various sectors, including online retail and education, enhances the reach of this new payment method, positioning it as a significant player in Brazil's evolving fintech landscape.

Sebastian Fantini, Ebanx's Director of Product, emphasized the transformative potential of this partnership, stating that it offers a previously unavailable open BNPL platform that enables broader participation in the global digital economy. Eduardo Zucareli, Pagaleve's Chief Commercial Officer, noted that their model dismantles traditional barriers, allowing consumers without credit cards to engage in online shopping more freely.

The introduction of Pix 4x comes at a time when instant payment systems are becoming essential in Latin America, as highlighted by recent PYMNTS reports. With BNPL rapidly gaining traction across the region, this collaboration positions Ebanx and Pagaleve to capitalize on a growing demand for flexible payment options, which are currently underprovided by many merchants. As BNPL becomes increasingly sought after, the strategic alignment of these two fintech companies could reshape consumer financing in Brazil, setting a precedent for similar innovations across the Gulf region and beyond.
