Miami-based AI startup Subquadratic has emerged from stealth mode with a bold assertion: it has overcome a significant mathematical bottleneck that has impeded the advancement of large language models (LLMs) for nearly a decade. The company introduced its innovative model, SubQ, which reportedly operates faster, cheaper, and with significantly less energy consumption than existing models. Early independent evaluations suggest that SubQ can process up to 12 times more text simultaneously compared to its competitors while maintaining performance levels comparable to leading models from Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
