OpenAI has unveiled its latest offering, OpenAI Presence, designed to assist enterprises in deploying AI-driven voice and chat agents tailored for customer support and outbound sales. The product initiates each deployment with a single-function agent, subsequently identifying performance gaps and recommending updates to enhance its capabilities. This collaborative approach ensures that the agent evolves in response to the specific needs of the business, a process facilitated by OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineers and select global systems integrators. Notably, Presence is not available as a self-service option, underscoring OpenAI's commitment to bespoke implementations for eligible enterprises.

The deployment of OpenAI Presence is already in practice, powering OpenAI's own English-language phone support channel and being utilized by major firms such as BBVA, SoftBank, and Insurance Australia Group Limited (IAG) to innovate their customer service strategies. The growing trend of integrating generative AI into customer service applications has been highlighted in recent reports, indicating a strong market demand for advanced chatbots and personalized customer interactions. Daniel Ordaz, head of AI transformation at BBVA Mexico, emphasized the importance of this partnership in refining voice experiences for financial services, aiming for a more seamless and personalized customer journey.

This launch follows OpenAI's earlier introduction of the Frontier platform, which provides enterprises with the tools and human expertise necessary to develop, deploy, and manage AI agents effectively. Frontier focuses on creating a shared context for these agents, ensuring they are well-equipped with onboarding, permissions, and boundaries to operate efficiently. As the demand for AI solutions in customer service continues to rise, OpenAI's strategic initiatives position it favorably within a rapidly evolving landscape.
