In a strategic move to enhance taxpayer compliance, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has announced an extension of its initiative waiving fines and financial penalties for taxpayers across all tax systems until December 31, 2026. This decision, issued by the Minister of Finance, allows for exemptions on various penalties, including those for late registration, late tax payments, and delayed submission of tax returns. Taxpayers must be registered with ZATCA, submit all necessary tax returns, and settle any outstanding tax liabilities to take advantage of this initiative. Additionally, ZATCA has introduced an installment plan option for eligible taxpayers who apply within the initiative's timeframe and adhere to the approved payment schedule. However, it is crucial to note that penalties related to tax evasion and those arising from tax returns due after June 30, 2026, remain excluded from this waiver. ZATCA has encouraged taxpayers to review the initiative's details through a simplified guide available on its website, ensuring they understand the eligibility criteria and procedures for settling outstanding amounts. The authority has made resources available for taxpayers to seek assistance, highlighting its commitment to facilitating compliance and enhancing tax administration in the Kingdom.
