Recent data from the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) reveals that Saudi Arabia's mobile internet speeds have risen to 216 Mbps, a notable increase from 203 Mbps the previous year. This advancement places the Kingdom among the top five G20 countries for mobile internet performance, reflecting the ongoing expansion of its digital infrastructure. The report, part of the Saudi Internet 2025 initiative, highlights that average monthly mobile data consumption per person has surged to 53 GB, nearly three times the global average. Furthermore, median download speeds on 5G networks reached an impressive 320 Mbps, with latency recorded at 24 milliseconds, indicating a robust mobile network capable of supporting high-demand applications.
In the fixed internet sector, median download speeds have also improved, rising to 151 Mbps from 120.4 Mbps in the previous year, while median upload speeds reached 73 Mbps with a latency of just 8 milliseconds. The report indicates that total internet data traffic in Saudi Arabia has reached 69 million terabytes, with domestic traffic accounting for 56% and international traffic for 44%. Notably, both mobile and fixed internet networks contributed equally to the total data traffic, highlighting the balanced development of the Kingdom's connectivity landscape. The Riyadh Region led with the highest share of internet data traffic at 30.6%, followed by Makkah and the Eastern Province.
The report also reveals that 67% of users have adopted Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), and the number of Saudi Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) has approached 200. These metrics underscore the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to enhancing its digital infrastructure, which is crucial for supporting the rapid growth of digital services. This report arrives on the heels of Saudi Arabia's top ranking in the 2026 Information and Communication Technology Development Index by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), where it outperformed 159 economies worldwide, further solidifying its position as a digital leader.
