The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has unveiled a comprehensive guide mandating occupational fitness assessments and screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the Kingdom. This initiative will be rolled out in three phases, beginning with public-sector employees and non-profit organizations before extending to all sectors. The first phase requires mandatory NCD screenings prior to employment, with establishments responsible for uploading results to an approved electronic system within six months of the regulations' enactment. The second phase will expand screenings to existing employees, focusing on high-risk establishments, while the final phase will ensure compliance across all entities, including temporary and remote workers. Employees who do not meet the occupational fitness criteria will be barred from their professions, necessitating a reassignment or further evaluation to confirm their capabilities. This initiative aims to standardize health and safety protocols in the workplace, enhancing the overall protection of worker health in various economic sectors.
